Trust), Bellary established in the year 1981 and dedicated purely for the cause of quality education in Science, Engineering and Technology offering excellent technical education. In 1981, a group of dedicated philanthropic people founded the T.E.H.R.D. Trust, which flourished, to the extent of having 03 Institutions under its umbrella, comprising almost every discipline of education.

BELLARY ENGINEERING COLLEGE, was established during the Academic Year 1997 with the initiative and foresight of members of T.E.H.R.D. Trust on the approval from Govt. of Karnataka, and is duly affiliated to Visveswaraiah Technological University (VTU). The institute is recognized by All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi (AICTE). The institute has grown by leaps and bounds and at present it offers Under Graduate Programmes and a Post Graduate Programme in Engineering.

The master plan is built with a vision to meet the 21st century requirements. In the present campus separate classroom block, Computer and Workshops are made available for smooth running of the academic activities. The College continues to retain its No.1 position in the region in All Semester Examinations held by Visveswaraiah Technological University, Belgaum, since inception.

The college offers advanced courses in line with the National and International requirements by installing required hardware and technical support, where the students will be trained to take the new challenge in the field of Software Technology. Many Value Added Courses are offered in the institute for the students, one such example; CISCO is also introduced.

A unique feature of this Engineering College is the constitution of Governing Council consisting of eminent personalities with wide and vast experience in Technical Education, Administration, Industry and Business. The council is to act as a "Think Tank" of the college and formulates the strategies for planning academic growth of the institution.

Over years growth & development of BEC has been progressive and rapid. Several factors can be attributed to this vast academic experience leadership qualities of the Principal provided the necessary fillip to the institution building, qualified & competent faculty and the experienced supporting staff and financial support by magnanimous management.

All these factors acted synergistically resulting in achieving a high standard of technical education in this college. It is reflected by the fact that BEC has been ranked high among state and national level technical institutes.
